February 13th, 2018 NBA Betting Tips

GraemeWritten by Graeme

It was a perfect 2-0 last night.

One thing we generally shy away from is big spreads as that’s where the highest variance can be. However when we looked at them yesterday, I really liked both of them to just outright dominate and they did so.

The Knicks had a poor game and Philly took full advantage, with a dominant 108-92 victory to cover the spread. Philly are a big 1st quarter team and they showed that again last night with a 31-21 Q1. That was a big one and the Knicks couldn’t claw their ways back from that. T.J. McConnell got his first triple double and came close to a freaking quadruple double. Off the bench. That was impressive.

We also had the Warriors and theirs was the opposite as they started a bit slow but finished so strong with a tremendous performance.

It’s February 13th, 2018 let’s get to tonights NBA Tips:

Heat vs Raptors Betting Tips:

The Raptors go into this one hoping to make it six in a row and I think they’re going to do that while covering the point spread. Tonights play is Raptors -7.5.

Raptors will be out for revenge tonight. Only 4 losses this season at home and one of those losses is to tonights opponents, the Miami Heat. That was a clinic that game where the Heat came to play and won 90-89 with a final second layup by Wayne Ellington.

That one killed the Raps streak – it was at 7 at the time – but Idon’t like history to repeat itself tonight.

Kelly Olynyk is confirmed out for tonight and really the big one for me is that when the Raptors win, they win big. Look at their recent victories over teams and how big they are. Anything less than a double point spread and the Raptors is a team we should always look at taking.

If history does repeat itself so be it but that’s the only negative I see about tonights picks which s why I’m backing Raptors -7.5.

Bucks vs Hawks Betting Tips:

A lot of this is based on the home form vs the road form and I’m going to take Bucks -7.5.

I don’t feel great about it – Hawks are a feisty bunch – but they usually when losing on the road get pounded. Bucks have been performing at home for the most part lately with some solid victories and some big dominant ones.

Since Kidd has left the Bucks have looked solid and while they slip on occasion they’re generally the much better team. They’ll be motivated with it being NBA All Star Weekend and going into it on a winning run. Jabari Parker is expected to be back tonight and that’s good – he missed the Magic game but they’re just resting him. He’ll take a bit to get in there but I like him to help them out tonight with the rust off.

So two 7.5 plays tonight both on the favourites. Let’s do it!

Man I am really kicking myself at that Heat +4.5 tip yesterday.

Initially I was going to go with the Rockets on that one but the more I looked into it, the more I decided I liked the Heat better. However if you read the intro paragraph to yesterdays tips you’ll see I was hyping up the Rockets – I already had started writing them to cover before changing my mind.

Very frustrating.

Big big day in the NBA where the Cavs are imvolved. The big trade is sending Isaiah Thomas to the Lakers and Channing Frye in return for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. Dwyane Wade has been sent back to the Heat and we’re going to see a lot more craziness in the next few hours I expect.

Let’s try and ignore all that and get on with the tips. How about LeBron last night btw? Scoring the game winner was one thing but my god that clutch block:

Absolutely freaking sick. If you had the Timberwolves to win outright there you couldn’t even be mad.

Thunder vs Lakers Betting Tips:

I already liked the Thunder -3.5 tonight and with everything going on with the Lakers I like it even more.

Lakers got the W over the Thunder last time out but the Thunder will be up for this one. Carmelo Anthony is questionable but I’m not too concerned I think they can take them down.

This is a big game for the Thunder and I like them to cover the spread.

Thunder -3.5 is the play in that one.

Blazers vs Hornets Betting Tips:

3 brutal games on the road but the Blazers are returning home where they’ve racked up quite the win streak.

This will give them confidence against a Hornets team that really struggles on the road.

For those wondering Willy Hernangomez is NOT playing tonight for the Hornets.

Blazers -3.5 is the play.

It was a 2-1 night last night with the NBA Tips.

Our first win was with the Bucks -1.5 and they duly delivered with a good old fashioned thumping of the Knicks. Unfortunately it wasn’t the sort of win you want – as it came at the expense of Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis landed bad off a dump and has torn his ACL.

Absolutely nasty injury – always hate seeing that. It one really hurt the Knicks.

Here’s the injury:

And then what about the greek freak? Poor Tim Hardaway got absolutely dunked on hard by Giannis Antetokounmpo – I mean just look at this:

Pretty sure I’ll be blindly betting the Knicks in their next game.

Also won with the Lakers -8. I said yesterday Brandon Ingram was looking solid in his new role and he brought it last night with a big game.

Warriors failed us. That was nice. What can ya do.

Let’s get on with tonights tips:

Pistons vs Nets Betting Tips:

The Detroit Griffins are surging at the moment with 4 wins in a row and I like them to keep it going and get a nice big win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Sure Blake Griffin is stepping up big but what makes players like him great is when they impact everyone around them and that’s what he is doing with players such as Andre Drummond.

Everyone is performing well right now for the Pistons and Griffin has settled in very well.

Nets are in that “trade phase” where the players can’t really concentrate on the game itself. Guys like DeMarre Carroll and Joe Harris are expected to leave.

So let’s go with Pistons -8.

Rockets vs Heat Betting Tips:

We’re going to back another surging team in the Heat +4.5.

Only 5 games till the All Star Break and the Rockets will see that as a goal and really push these next 5 games. They got two huge victories over the Cavs and Spurs on the road and beaten quite a few tricky teams lately.

However I think it’s more about the Miami Heat. They’re a solid bounce back team as is and after losing to one of the really crappy teams, they usually come out pumped. They lost to the Magic and so I expect them to do the same tonight.

Kelly Olynyk will be limited if he plays as he has strained his shoulder which sucks but I still think Heat as a team have what it takes.

Jazz vs Grizzlies Betting Tips:

The Utah Jazz are a joy to watch right now and I’ll back them Jazz -7.5 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Jazz are on a tear and they’re one of those teams who are just killing it with every player on the team performing well. Ricky Rubio has been absolutely sensational and teams don’t seem to know how to stop him. And what about Rodney Hood – what a return he has had.

The Jazz have been bad on the road overall but I can’t see past them tonight.

We used to hate betting for or against the Bucks but the Wizards have replaced that. If you take out all our Wizards/Bucks related picks for this season we’ve got a 63% win ratio. Those are two teams we just can’t figure out and the Warriors looked amazing even with John Wall out. Bradley Beal has been stepping it up and the Wizards have been winning every since Wall went out.

We had a nice easy win with the Jazz over the Saints with the Jazz on absolute fire. What an absolutely amazing performance by Rodney Hood. Any injury concerns about him were gone after that one.

So a 1-1 night. It’s February 6th, 2018 and time to see what we’ve got tonight:

Golden State Warriors vs Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Tips:

Let me say straight up – if the Warriors weren’t coming off a loss I’d go with the Thunder here. I think they match up well with the Warriors and with 4 lost in a row they’ll be looking to end that here.

But it’s not going to happen.

Warriors are the best bounce back team in the NBA and are killing it – not just winning but also by how much they win. They made some mistakes in that game against the Nuggets and Draymond Green will be sick about that turnover but the Warriors will come out motivated and take this one. The loss of Andre Roberson is a big one and that’s really going to hurt against the Warriors. I read a rumour they’re looking at picking up Avery Bradley which would help them on the offense.

Warriors -10 is the play.

Bucks vs Knicks Betting Tips:

Have to go with Bucks -1.5 here.

Kristaps Porzingis was not a happy camper after that loss to the Hawks and he’s mentally going to be busted going into this one as that was a very frustrating one. Jabari Parker being back is a huge boost for the Bucks and he’s nice and healthy and ready to play tonight.

This should be a very interesting game but the Bucks should roll out winners here.

Lakers vs Suns Betting Tips:

The Lakers are on a roll at the moment. One concern is their inability to really put a team away but I think they can do it here against the hopeless Suns.

Lonzo Ball will not be playing tonight however both Josh Hart and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope have stepped up and Brandon Ingram is looking good in his new role bringing the ball up.

The Lakers are working well together at the moment and I’ll take Lakers -8 tonight despite their piss poor home record.

We just had the one tip yesterday and it went to a push as the Heat were +2 and lost by exactly 2 points in a good game against the Cavs.

That keeps us at 117-114 for the season or a 50.6% win ratio.

If you know sports betting you know that means with the juice we’re not turning a profit. We need at least 52.38% win ratio to break even.

However I’m very happy at where we stand at this stage in the season as three things to remember:

1 – I took last season off and had really lost interest in NBA for awhile. So to say I’m “rusty” would be an understatement.

2 – This is the first time I’ve collaborated with someone else. It’s something new and will take time to really get swinging.

3 – Probably at least 10 of those losses are on the freaking Bucks – whether we bet against them or for them we just couldn’t figure them out for most of the season.

So either way I’m happy with how things are going and hoping for a couple of big winning months to wrap up the regular season and have another winning season.

Must admit I’m pretty darn hyped for the playoffs. Living in Canada I’d get swept up in Raptor fever the last few years – WE THE NORTH – but this year I’m really intrigued for every match-up and can’t wait to both watch them and analyze them.

Pistons vs Grizzlies Betting Tips:

Maybe I’m just a mark but goddamn I gotta go with the Pistons tonight.

Its Griffins first game and dude got a point to prove. Plus it’s at home.

This is gonna wake the Pistons up. I am pumped to watch this game.

From a statistical standpoint – eh, might not be the best bet but screw it.

Pistons -8

And unfortunately that’s the only play I like tonight. Everything else conflicts with the system which isn’t 100% on any plays. It was close to picking Wizards but not cloes enough and when I look at that one I think the Raptors -3.5 is probably the better play there.

Not a good night last night which sucks as I was feeling pretty good about the tips.

Wizards were without Wall yet that didn’t matter as they thumped the Thunder and gave Westbrook a ton of frustrations all though the night. It was very disappointing and really just a very bad performance from the Thunder who should have did much better in that one.

Unfortunately that’s something you see at this point in the season – teams who are looking good for the playoffs and just phone it in on a night like that. I mean that game was there for the taking – very frustrating.

Raps won as expected but unfortunately 1.5pt less than what was needed for the cover as the Timberwolves got off to a big start in that one.

And Spurs were Spurs. Another win but not enough to cover the spread.

Heat vs Cavs Betting Tips:

Going with Heat +2.

The Cavaliers are without Kevin Love which is a big loss and it will be hard to see how they can adjust to being without him. Crazy that Love now misses out on another all star game.

The Cavs come into this one struggling and yeah of course Lebron will be up for it, but you gotta remember these teams are essentially tied for points.

Cavs have had a couple of solid home wins but also some big losses. The Heat can turn it on on the road as we’ve seen lately with wins over the Mavs, Hornets, Bucks, Pacers and Raptors.

This should be a tight game settled by one possession and I think we’ll take the team with the points here.

January 30th, 2018 NBA Betting Tips

It was a nice 2-1 night last night with the NBA Tips.

Our loss was with the Timberwolves over the Hawks. Minnesota let a first half lead drop as Atlanta stormed in the 4th with a big performance.

We won with the Bucks who make it 4 in a row with a convincing victory over the 76ers. The Greek Freak is playing at the top of his game at the moment and it’s hard not to keep backing them.

We also win with a solid pick of the Heat over the Mavs. Dallas have now lost their last 4.

Let’s move onto tonight, January 30th 2018:

Nuggets vs Spurs Betting Tips:

Spurs come into this one on the back of a day of rest. It’s been a hard couple of days for Denver and they’re going to be tired and fade down the stretch.

Spurs are just an incedible home team – probably the best in the league at home and I don’t see any outcome other than an outright pounding from the Nuggets.

Nuggets came damn close to the win over the Celtics and props to them for that battle however man that’s just going to add to their fatigue for this game.

They’ll also be sick thinking about how they could have snatched the win and honestly I like the Spurs to roll all over them here.

Spurs -7.5

Raptors vs Timberwolves Betting Tips:

Speaking of great home teams there’s the Toronto Raptors and I’ve got to take Raptors -6.5 here.

We had the Timberwolves last night and they lost to Atlanta and now we’re going to fade them. Anyone that loses to Atlanta shouldn’t be able to keep up with the Raps at home!

Timberwolves are entering this one tired and the Raptors just should dominate this one. They’re not big lately for covering the spread at home but I do think -6.5 is an easy enough spread for them to cover and think they can hit a double figure victory.

Thunder vs Wizards Betting Tips:

I like the Thunder -3 as they make it in in a row.

They’re going up against a Wizards team that will probably be without Wall and even if he plays he ain’t gonna be 100%.

Thunder look so damn good and they crushed the Wizards just last week where Westbrook ran riot on them. He really exposed them and I like him to do the same here.

Let’s go Thunder!
