A 2-0 record last night.
It was a very nice night for us as both of our tips came in rather easily.
We took the Raptors +10.5 last night against the Lakers and not only did they cover that, they won the game outright with a final score of 113-04. I said in the write-up that more Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam would not be a bad thing for this team and that’s exactly what we got. Siakam scored 24 points with 11 rebounds in 42 minutes while VanVleet played 39 minutes and finished with 23 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds. This team is built to sustain injuries like that.
Our other tip was the over on Brooklyn versus Phoenix. The Suns dropped 37 in the first quarter here and never looked back. They scored 138 here which made it pretty easy to hit the over. 138-112 was the final score, a good 16.5 points over the total. Ricky Rubio had 22 points and 12 assists here. Devin Booker led the way with 27 points.
A nice end to last week. Let’s start off this week strong.
Dallas Mavericks vs. Boston Celtics Betting Tips:
The Celtics have won seven straight games and tonight they face the Mavericks at home. Last year, the Mavericks were one of the worst straight-up teams on the road in the NBA. They’ve looked good on the road thus far this season, but that is because they have had a very reasonable early schedule with wins at Memphis, Cleveland, and New Orleans. Boston is a little different than those places.
Boston has been top-5 in both Offensive Rating and Defensive Rating while the Mavs have been all offense. This should be a fun match-up in terms of scoring, but I’m looking for a Celtics win here. They are really locked in early this season and I can see them adding to that win total tonight. The Mavs have talent, but they can’t match the big four of Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward, and Jaylen Brown. This should be a tough night for the Mavs.
UPDATE: I somehow missed the story that Gordon Hayward broke his hand on Saturday and won’t be playing here. This reminds me of the Raptors a bit yesterday as they will really pick it up in his absence. The Celtics are a pretty deep team and I am sticking with the play tonight.
Utah Jazz vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Tips:
I’ve mostly stayed away from the Warriors this season since the Stephen Curry injury and everything else that has happened to them, but this one is just too good to pass up.
The Warriors are without Curry and Draymond Green, and they have D’Angelo Russell listed as questionable here. That makes for a very young team without any elite defenders. Tonight, they face the most elite defensive team in the league. They’ve been able to pour in the points thanks to their fast pace, but this is their first game against a real defense and I don’t see it going well for them.
The Jazz are well rested here and are coming off big wins against the 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. Those are two of the best teams in the league so them being able to hold them under 104 points is huge. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Warriors scored under 80 tonight. The Jazz can do that to them.
