An 0-1 record last night.
We took the Wolves at home on a home-and-home with the Jazz. I figured they might come out and avenge their recent loss, but the Jazz were just too much to handle. The funny thing here is when they played at Utah on Friday, the Jazz were up big and then let the Wolves have a huge fourth quarter to make it close. In this game, it was close the whole way before the Jazz exploded in the fourth 35-26. The key here was Donovan Mitchell. He was just 2-for-12 in the first half, but he heated up in the third and finished with 29 points.
The big news in the NBA is that Anthony Davis has requested to be traded. The Lakers and Celtics are the obvious fits, but due to some weird salary cap rules they can’t trade for Davis until 7/1. You have to imagine that no one on the Lakers is untouchable outside of LeBron James. Anthony Davis is truly a once-in-a-lifetime player.
It all depends on what New Orleans is looking for. Do they want to stay somewhat competitive? Do they want to go for a youth movement? The front office hasn’t done a great job building the team around Davis so really anything can happen. With the recent trade of Paul George seeing him like his new place and re-signing before hitting free agency, I think teams will be ultra-aggressive now. Portland is my sleeper, but it’s hard to say if he’d want to go there long-term.
It’s going to be interesting watching this play out, to be sure. For now, let’s just take a look at today’s games.
Golden State Warriors vs. Indiana Pacers: This really would’ve been a great game with Victor Oladipo and I probably would’ve taken the Pacers and the points in that scenario. As it is, he’s out for the season and the Warriors should roll.
Atlanta Hawks vs. Los Angeles Clippers: The Hawks have been a much better team as the season has wore on, but they are still going nowhere. They’ve done pretty well against the spread this season, but the Clippers at home have been amazing. This line just feels a little off to me though.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics: I really wanted to take the Nets here, but the injury situation is not good for them right now. Spencer Dinwiddie and Joe Harris join Allen Crabbe, Caris LeVert and Jared Dudley on the injury list here and that is just too much. I think they are probably getting too many points, but with that injury situation I just can’t support them.

Denver Nuggets vs. Memphis Grizzlies Betting Tips:
The Grizzlies just ended an eight game losing streak by beating the Oladipo-less Pacers. I don’t like their chances against this really good Denver team here.
With Memphis putting their two best players on the trading block, it’s hard to see a lot of positives for this team. Denver has them beat all around. I like Nikola Jokic much better than Marc Gasol at this point and the bench depth isn’t even close here. There is a reason Memphis is in the situation they are in and that Denver is one of the top teams in the league right now.
